Further information for Conference Attendees

Dear all,

The time has come to start thinking about practicalities for the conference - we are looking forward to seeing you here in the North-East of England and hope to make your journey and stay both restful and yet stimulating! To that end we have posted our conference schedule, the core of which is a series of fascinating papers. We apologise for the lengthy email, but we hope that you will find all the information useful.

We would also like to take the opportunity to remind you that you can book decent accommodation to suit your price range here or follow this link directly… www.conferencebookings.co.uk/delegate/NGIBEFOREDEPRESSION. Please note that hotels will start to release any unsold rooms from 22nd May onwards, so you do need to make your bookings as soon as possible.

You can also register (if you haven't already) by downloading a booking form here, or you can send emails to our administrator Gilly Gosling about the financial side of booking and registration and she will take your bookings by email as well.

The University of Northumbria website has plenty of information about how to get here in a variety of modes: follow this link for more information.
For the University of Sunderland.

We will be in the Lipman Building on the Newcastle City Campus (in the city centre) for the Northumbria part of the conference, and will gather there at the foyer on the first day for registration in the Foyer and transport to Sunderland (if you are not making your own way there already).
The Sunderland part of the conference will be held at the Media Centre on the University's Tom Cowie campus at St. Peter's.

For general tourist information

You will note that we have several 'extracurricular' activities planned, most of which are included in the conference price - like the Reception Buffet at the beautiful National Glass Centre, and a visit to and wine reception at our Art Exhibition, 18th Century Blues: Exploring the Melancholy Mind, at the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead (10 minutes on the coach from Northumbria) ( see Exhibition for a preview of some of the major artworks)
.
The conference dinner is at the Lord Mayor's Mansion House in Newcastle, but has to be booked as well as the conference fee - see the booking form.

We are planning a trip to Hadrian's Wall on Sunday 22nd June including transport and the guiding services of an award winning Blue Badge guide Jan Williams. Please let us know as soon as possible whether you wish to come on this trip as we need to know if there are sufficient numbers to run the trip before June.

Please do direct any queries to Clark or Gilly (depending on your question!).

We look forward to seeing you soon.
All best wishes,
Clark and the Conference Committee
