Diane graduated from Sunderland University with
a BA (Hons.) English: First Class. Following this, she pursued an
MA in English Literature: Restoration to Romanticism, also at Sunderland
University, and was awarded a distinction in 2006. Over the next three
years she will be based mainly at Sunderland, working under the preliminary
title, 'Depression and the Idle Lifestyle.' The main aim of her research
will be to explore how the lifestyle choices a person made in the
eighteenth century may have had a detrimental effect on their mental
health. In particular she will be interested in people's perceptions
of and attitudes towards 'idleness'.
